They left it on a good note, where it was crazy but still believable. I hate that it ended on somewhat of a cliff hanger, but also maybe that's a good thing, as I find sometimes these types of shows can only be good for so long before they have to start turning crazier and crazier to up the ante. While I loved the show, I can imagine it could have been fleshed out even more, which would have made it even better. Rather than reversing course, the state of Arkansas tried to discredit Paradise Lost, portraying the HBO film as a flash of sensationalized entertainment. I read a Josh Hartnett interview where he expressed it was one of the best scripts he ever read but was disappointed with the execution. It was all the things I like - small town secrets, eccentric town people, mystery and a touch of supernatural and a lot of conflicting characters and agendas. Maybe I'm just a sucker for Southern gothic, but this show had a great mystery and vibe to it.
